Membership and Benefits

The AHS is an active community of herpetological enthusiasts, both amateur and professional. Monthly meetings are held at Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts, 280 Pitt Street, Sydney. Meetings take place on the 4th Wednesday of each month and feature an influential speaker that discusses their work in the field of Herpetology. Membership includes entry to all general meetings.

Family Zoo Passes

The AHS exclusively offers members one free visit annually (Family 2 adults, 2 children) to The Australian Reptile Park at Somersby NSW, Symbio Wildlife Park at Helensburgh NSW and National Zoo and Aquarium Canberra on presentation of their FAMILY membership card. This will be punched on entry on the specific symbol for each park. Membership expires at the end of April each year.

Field Trips

The AHS is a scientific society and hosts regular field trips for various survey work  across N.S.W. This offers a unique opportunity to budding scientists, enthusiasts and seasoned herpers who wish to gain experience in a scientific environment. Members are invited and encouraged to take part in field trips when offered.


Red Bellied Courier

The AHS is the proud producer of an annual publication, The Red Bellied Courier. This publication compiles the works of herpetology, both amateur and professional  across approximately 100 full colour pages.

Members exclusively gain their copy upon release.

The society maintains a large library of reptile and amphibian related books, which are available on loan to financial members. To borrow these please contact the AHS Librarian.
